ADN-Madeira, through its spokesperson Eduardo Quintal, came this Saturday to denounce the high concentration of visitors and vehicles at Fanal, warning that the influx has exceeded the maximum capacity of 3,000 daily visits defined for that area of Laurissilva forest, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
Given the complaints from tourism operators and the visual records received, the party demands that the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) disclose the official visitor numbers and implement effective control and rigorous enforcement of the established limit.
The party considers it necessary to ensure that capacity limits are respected to preserve the integrity of this protected area, which represents a natural heritage of global importance and deserves more responsible management by the competent authorities.
