UA involved in more sustainable porcelain production project

The University of Aveiro is involved in a more sustainable porcelain production project, led by PORCEL and with the participation of the company Mota II Soluções Cerâmicas.

The main objective of this initiative is to make porcelain manufacturing more efficient, significantly reducing the energy consumption associated with the production process.

In addition to reducing energy consumption, the project also seeks to lower the carbon footprint linked to porcelain production, contributing to a more environmentally friendly industry.

This collaboration between academia, represented by UA, the business sector through Mota II Soluções Cerâmicas, and the coordination of PORCEL aims to promote innovation and sustainability in the ceramic sector.

Swappie starts selling refurbished Macs in Portugal

The Finnish company Swappie, specialized in the sale of refurbished electronic devices, will start selling refurbished Macs in Portugal from August 31. The company estimates that a refurbished 15-inch MacBook Air will be sold starting at 1,300 euros (new costs starting at 1,700 euros). Swappie achieved revenues of 249 million euros in 2025, a 20% growth compared to the previous year, and in the Portuguese market, profitability grew tenfold between 2024 and 2025.
