Dira Paes, 57-year-old actress from Pará, was appointed to join the new advisory council created at the Labor Court in Brasília, focused on combating the illegal labor of children and adolescents. She is the star of "Lá na minha terra," the upcoming 6pm soap opera on TV Globo.
The council is made up of notable figures from the legal field connected to the issue, as well as representatives from civil society. The choice of Dira Paes to join the group comes as no surprise to those who follow her career.
Since at least 2003, the actress has been part of a collective of artists who founded the MHuD (Movement Humans for Rights). The movement's pillars include the fight against slave labor, against environmental degradation, for the rights of indigenous people and quilombola communities, and for the rights of children and adolescents.
