The Nigerien army is on maximum alert after a chaotic night of explosions and gunfire in various strategic zones of the country's capital, Niamey. The confrontations occurred in locations such as the airport and in the vicinity of the Presidential Palace, generating great tension in the Nigerien capital.
So far, there is no official information from the military junta that has been governing the country since the coup. The junta is led by putschist General Abdourahmane Tchiani, whose silence contrasts with the intensity of the events recorded during the night.
