Blood donation campaign collects 58 units in Vila Real de Santo António

A blood donation campaign organized by the Municipal Health Office of Vila Real de Santo António collected 58 units of blood, with the participation of 70 registered individuals, including 20 new donors. The initiative took place on August 19 and 20, at the Lutgarda Guimarães de Caires Building, in a partnership between the municipality, FEPODABES and the Portuguese Institute of Blood and Transplantation (IPST).

On the first day, 36 registrations were recorded and 34 units were collected, while on the second day the campaign had 34 registered participants and collected another 24 units. The collected units were sent to IPST, where they will be processed and subsequently distributed to hospitals across the country.

The Mayor of the Municipal Council, Álvaro Araújo, joined the initiative by making his own blood donation, and Vice-President Patrícia Jerónimo was also present at the location, monitoring the campaign's progress.

The Municipal Health Office thanked the donors for their participation, with special mention to the 20 who made their first donation, as well as to FEPODABES and IPST for their collaboration in carrying out the initiative.

Uma campanha de dádiva de sangue promovida pelo Gabinete Municipal de Saúde de Vila Real de Santo António permitiu recolher 58 unidades de sangue e contou com a participação de 70 inscritos, entre os quais 20 novos dadores.

A iniciativa decorreu nos dias 19 e 20 de agosto, no Edifício Lutgarda Guimarães de Caires, numa parceria entre o município, a FEPODABES e o Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação (IPST).

No primeiro dia foram registadas 36 inscrições e recolhidas 34 unidades de sangue. No dia seguinte, a campanha contou com 34 inscritos e permitiu recolher outras 24 unidades.

As unidades recolhidas foram encaminhadas para o IPST, onde serão processadas e posteriormente distribuídas pelos hospitais de todo o país, contribuindo para assegurar as reservas necessárias ao tratamento de doentes e à resposta a situações de emergência, intervenções cirúrgicas e outras necessidades clínicas.

O presidente da Câmara Municipal de Vila Real de Santo António, Álvaro Araújo, associou-se à iniciativa através da própria dádiva de sangue.

A vice-presidente da autarquia, Patrícia Jerónimo, esteve igualmente presente no local, acompanhando o decorrer da campanha e o processo de recolha.

O Gabinete Municipal de Saúde agradeceu a participação dos dadores, com destaque para os 20 que fizeram a sua primeira dádiva, bem como à FEPODABES e ao IPST pela colaboração na realização da iniciativa.
