A 41-year-old man died and six others were injured after being hit by a large sign that fell during the Big Church Festival, a Christian event that was taking place on Friday in the outskirts of Steyning, in West Sussex, England. Local police reported that the victim, from Eastbourne, in East Sussex, was pronounced dead at the scene. The family has been informed and is receiving support from specialists.

The other injured were taken to the hospital and are receiving medical care. The event organization canceled the show after the incident. Police are asking the public to contact the regional headquarters if they have footage of the accident or any information that may help the investigation.

Detective superintendent Richard McDonagh explained to The Guardian newspaper that police are working with several partners to establish exactly what happened. He reinforced that any data can be useful to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
