Two million followers in a week and search record: Cury lives digital boom, and rivals see artificial movement

The writer and psychiatrist Augusto Cury, candidate for President of the Republic for Avante, has been experiencing accelerated growth on social networks and search platforms in recent days. Data from a survey conducted by consulting firm Ativaweb at the request of GLOBO reveals that, on Instagram, Cury had the second highest engagement on his posts, coming in behind only Renan Santos, despite having published half the total posts made by the presidential candidate from Missão.

The candidate gained approximately 2.2 million followers in just one week, representing a 27% growth, reaching the mark of 10.7 million profiles on the platform. The numbers also show a record number of searches for his name, indicating growing public interest in the candidate.

With only 2% voting intention in the latest round of Datafolha, the digital phenomenon contrasts with electoral polls. Rivals and political adversaries view the growth with skepticism, arguing that the movement would not be organic and questioning the nature of the phenomenon on social networks.

Augusto Cury's campaign denies the accusations that the growth is artificial. The candidate remains at low levels in voting intention polls, but the digital boom highlights a possible attempt to gain visibility and political relevance through social media.
