Trump confirms going to the Pentagon instead of New York for the 9/11 ceremonies

The US President, Donald Trump, confirmed on Friday that he will only go to the Pentagon for the ceremony honoring the victims of September 11, and not to New York. This decision was made after controversy about the reasons behind the choice of location.

According to the New York Times newspaper, Trump made this decision "in part because he wanted to give a speech" at the site where the former Twin Towers of the World Trade Center stood. This information was, however, denied by the White House.

The official reason for not traveling to New York is that only the victims' families are entitled to speak at the ceremonies at the site of the former World Trade Center, which limited the possibility of Trump giving a speech to a larger audience.
