New STF 'perk' is an affront to its own decision

oglobo29 August 2026 at 04:10

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) has been adopting, in recent months, measures to regulate public servant supersalaries, especially in the Judiciary and the Public Prosecutor's Office, in response to society's pressure. However, these measures were characterized as timid and insufficient by the publication.

The reported surprise is that the STF itself, contradicting its own decisions on the subject, created a gratification that will function as a "perk" for Court employees. This is an additional benefit that goes against the austerity discourse the court had been advocating.

The situation is considered an affront to the decisions of the STF itself, since the Court was a protagonist in initiatives to limit payments above the salary cap, but now would be practicing the opposite within its own structure.
