25 million for irrigation systems affected by storms

The Government approved 25 million euros for the repair of irrigation systems affected by the storms that devastated the Algarve region. The support is funded by the State Budget and is specifically aimed at the reconstruction of damaged irrigation infrastructure.

The measure was announced during a visit to Lagos, in the Algarve. The visit aimed to assess the damage to agricultural operations in the region and demonstrate the executive's commitment to the sector's recovery.

Authorities highlighted the importance of Algarve agriculture as an economic driver for the region. The agricultural sector in the Algarve has been facing increasing difficulties recently.

The executive also mentioned the need to reduce the national food deficit. The focus on recovering irrigation infrastructure aims to contribute to greater productivity and sustainability of the Portuguese agricultural sector.
