The Belgian Minister of Defense, Theo Francken, announced today the first joint operation between police and military in Brussels. The mobilization of armed forces occurs as a response to the insecurity and violence related to drug trafficking affecting the Belgian capital.

The operation marks a new phase in the fight against organized crime in the region, integrating military capabilities with local police forces to face the wave of shootings that has been assailing Brussels.
