Fuyao Group, a global components supplier for companies such as Tesla and Volkswagen Group, has completed the development and validation of a solar glass roof with photovoltaic cells for automobiles. The component is now ready for mass production.
The technology consists of placing laminated solar cells directly into automotive glass, allowing solar energy capture to assist in vehicle operation. Nissan has already managed to accumulate enough energy through this technology to travel an additional 23 kilometers per day.
This innovation represents a significant advancement in the integration of renewable energy in transportation, offering a complementary energy source for electric vehicles. The fact that the technology has been validated by a world-renowned supplier such as Fuyao Group indicates that large-scale production may soon be within reach for automobile manufacturers.
