Coaf fines Stellantis for violating rule used to combat money laundering practice

The Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf) fined automaker Stellantis, owner of brands such as Fiat, Jeep and Peugeot, R$ 7.4 million for breaching anti-money laundering rules. The decision was made by the regulatory body's plenary.

According to Coaf, companies are required to report any vehicle sale made with cash payment when the amount exceeds R$ 30 thousand. This same rule applies to other high-value products, such as jewelry, vessels and precious stones.

So far this year, through June, the agency fined companies over R$ 26 million for allegedly failing to comply with these anti-money laundering rules. Among the penalized groups are vehicle automakers and haute couture brands.

⛽ Government reduces discount on ISP on diesel and gasoline
