Odair Moniz's family appeals suspended sentence given to PSP officer

Odair Moniz's family has appealed the suspended sentence handed down to a PSP officer who shot him dead in 2024. The man was killed after trying to flee from authorities.

The PSP officer was tried and sentenced to a suspended sentence, a decision that Odair Moniz's family considered insufficient.

The Public Prosecutor's Office also appealed the sentence, showing that both the family and the Public Prosecutor's Office disagree with the leniency of the sentence handed down to the officer.

The case occurred when Odair Moniz tried to flee from the PSP, resulting in his death by shooting. The family is now awaiting the decision on the appeal.
