Guinean opposition calls for referendum boycott

The opposition in Guinea called for a boycott of the referendum being held in the country. The opposition organization claims the true purpose of the referendum is the so-called "legalization" of the coup that occurred in November 2025.

According to the opposition, that coup prevented Dias da Costa from being declared the country's new president. The referendum is viewed by government opponents as an attempt to retroactively legitimize what they consider a breach of constitutional order.

Among those who joined the boycott is also Soares Pereira, a Guinean opposition figure who added his voice to the call against participation in the referendum. The opposition's position is clear in rejecting the process they consider illegitimate.

Livre respects Constitutional Court decision, but maintains criticism of asylum law

The Livre party announced that it respects the decision of the Constitutional Court that considered constitutional the norms of the diploma on granting asylum and return of foreigners, but reiterated its criticisms of the law. Deputy Paulo Muacho stated that the fact that the CC did not declare the law unconstitutional does not mean it is a good law, highlighting concerns about the possibility of detention and expulsion of migrant children.
