The PCP accused the Coimbra municipal council of "making life difficult" in the city's Baixa with the changes to road traffic and número-bus routes planned for September 10. The party considers that these changes, which are associated with the metrobus coming into operation, were not properly consulted on.
The party demands that the council promote the participation of Baixa residents and traders in decisions about these changes. The PCP advocates that the affected population should have been heard before the implementation of changes to traffic and public transport.
The changes scheduled for September include new traffic restrictions and the reorganization of bus routes, measures that the party considers harmful to those who live and work in the historic zone of the city. The metrobus is presented by the municipality as a mobility solution, but the PCP questions the negative impact on local residents and traders.
