TC decides: rules on granting asylum and return of foreigners are constitutional

The Constitutional Court decided, unanimously, that the rules regarding the granting of asylum and the return of foreigners are constitutional. The decision was made after the President of the Republic requested preventive oversight of these rules. The court analyzed the formal and material aspects of the legislation in question, concluding that there are no unconstitutionality defects. This decision comes within the scope of preventive constitutionality control, requested by the highest office in the Portuguese state.
