The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deleted a video suggesting the recruitment of ultra-Orthodox Jews. In the video, an Orthodox soldier referenced an annual pilgrimage in Ukraine, suggesting that members of the haredi community would have to regularize their military status to be able to participate in that trip. The video was removed after generating controversy. The question of ultra-Orthodox recruitment for military service is a sensitive issue in Israel, where this community is historically exempt from this obligation.
