Guinea-Bissau's major political parties and civil society organizations called for a boycott of the constitutional referendum scheduled for Sunday. The appeal was launched through a statement by the United Front, which brings together these political and social forces in the country.

The United Front classified the referendum as a "pseudo-referendum" and considered it to be merely "a farce" organized by the government. According to the statement, the objective of this process is to "legitimize a usurper regime" that allegedly does not respect the will of the Guinean people.

The statement also mentions that the United Front considers the referendum aims to deviate from the popular will "freely expressed at the ballot box," suggesting that there is a democratic rupture in the country. This unified position of the major parties and civil society organizations represents a significant challenge to the Guinean government in holding this popular consultation.
