A 38-year-old American nurse, Cami, who worked for 13 years in a hospital, decided to sell her house and invest around 300,000 dollars (258,000 euros) in buying a laundromat in Arizona in October 2020. For almost three years, she balanced managing the business with nursing shifts until she managed to quit in April 2023, when the laundromat already had steady revenues. In 2024, the establishment grossed around 475,000 dollars (408,000 euros), with approximate profits of 119,000 dollars (102,000 euros), after reinvesting some of the results and paying herself a salary of 66,000 dollars. She currently dedicates only five to six hours per week to management, after hiring a team of six workers and developing pickup and home delivery services. Cami learned to manage without any business training, listening to business programs and using social media to share her experience, and believes she can retire in six to seven years.
