Russian President Vladimir Putin tested the new Volga model for the first time during a visit to the Nizhny Novgorod factory. At the event, Putin took the opportunity to sign an autograph on the vehicle, a moment that was widely documented.
The factory where the tests took place now belongs to the Russian automotive industry, having previously housed Volkswagen's operations in the country. This visit marks a significant step in Russia's attempt to develop its own national automotive industry.
The new Volga model represents Russia's efforts to reduce dependence on foreign brands in the automotive sector, at a time when many Western companies abandoned the Russian market after the start of the conflict in Ukraine.
