The number of passengers on Azores inter-island ferries has been declining since July 2025, with the exception of May. This downward trend has been consistent over the past few months in the region.
The islands of Terceira and Graciosa are the most affected by this decrease, registering reductions in passenger numbers between 15 and 30 percent. These two islands thus show the worst results in terms of maritime passenger transport.
Conversely, the island of Flores contrasts with this trend, having recorded a year-on-year increase of 8 percent in passenger numbers. This growth makes Flores a positive exception in the overall regional picture.
