Primary education in Portugal will see mobile phones banned in schools up to the 9th grade, after the promulgation of a new law. Until now, the ban was mandatory only for students in the 1st and 2nd cycles of primary education.
In the previous school year, about half of the 3rd cycle schools also decided to ban mobile phones on their own initiative, demonstrating a growing trend towards restricting these devices.
The measure aims to reduce distractions in the classroom and promote an environment more conducive to concentration and learning for younger students.
