Nepal has sent over 1,200 military personnel to the banks of rivers between Rasuwa and Chitwan districts to bolster the search for victims of the floods that hit the country on Wednesday. The new force was mobilized on Friday by order of the Nepali Prime Minister's Office to operate in all areas considered possible location points for victims, with special focus on riverbanks, where many bodies were carried by the force of the waters.
The rescue teams face strong currents and hard-to-reach areas as they advance in the searches. In parallel, authorities are dealing with another significant challenge: the number of recovered bodies already exceeds the capacity of local morgues, and the state of decomposition makes identifying the victims difficult.
