Four Espinho beaches with swimming not advised

The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) detected elevated levels of enterococci and E. coli in four beaches in the municipality of Espinho. The affected beaches are Baía Beach, Seca Beach, Rua 37 Beach and Frente Azul Beach, all with swimming advised against.

The Espinho local authority deferred questions about the situation to the APA, responsible for monitoring the quality of bathing waters. The Municipal Council also clarified that this problem is not exclusive to Espinho, also affecting other local authorities in the Norte region of the country.
