The Chega may present a motion of censure to the Government next Tuesday, September 1st, if Prime Minister Luís Montenegro maintains Luís Neves as Minister of Internal Administration. The threat was announced by the party leader, André Ventura, this Friday.
André Ventura conditioned the parliamentary initiative on how Luís Montenegro resolves the situation of the government member. The Chega leader considers that Luís Neves has reached a certain point that motivates this extreme position of the party.
Luís Neves holds the position of Minister of Internal Administration in Luís Montenegro's Government. The motion of censure represents one of the most relevant parliamentary tools available to the opposition to demonstrate its disagreement with the executive's actions.
André Ventura's announcement comes at a time of political tension, with Chega demonstrating that it is willing to use all procedural mechanisms at its disposal to pressure the Prime Minister to make a decision about the future of Luís Neves in the executive.
