Fortaleza will be the only city outside the state of São Paulo to host the first phase of Fuvest, the entrance exam that selects students for the University of São Paulo (USP). The exam is scheduled for November 1st, and the selective process offers more than 8 thousand spots in the university's undergraduate programs.
The decision provoked questions at the São Paulo State Legislative Assembly, since USP is a public university maintained by the State of São Paulo. State deputy Leonardo Siqueira, from the Novo party, presented a request asking that USP inform the costs, studies and criteria used for the choice of Fortaleza as the host city.
The legislator also questioned why the university decided to take the exam to another state instead of expanding the application sites in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The operation in Fortaleza began to be tested as part of this expansion process of Fuvest outside of São Paulo.
