The leader of Chega, André Ventura, threatened to present a motion of censure against the Government next Tuesday if the prime minister Luís Montenegro doesn't resolve the situation of the minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves. Ventura stressed this threat to journalists, stating that if there is no resolution, the party will join the appeal made by the President of the Republic and will present the motion in Parliament.
The party has been insisting on the resignation of Luís Neves, who has been under strong scrutiny during the summer for several reasons, including decisions he made when he was director of the Judicial Police. Ventura argues that the minister doesn't have the authority to remain in office because he is linked to several cases, considering the situation unacceptable and a "total mess".
The president of Chega highlighted that he doesn't want political crises and hopes there won't be a motion of censure, appealing to Luís Montenegro to resolve the situation. The party is also preparing a request for an inquiry committee after the return from parliamentary recess.

“Eu quero que o primeiro-ministro resolva uma situação que envergonha toda a gente. Está a envergonhar os aliados europeus. Se não tivermos a resolução desta situação, nós juntar-nos-emos ao apelo que o Presidente da República fez e apresentaremos uma moção de censura na terça-feira, no Parlamento”, vincou André Ventura aos jornalistas.
O presidente do Chega defende que o ministro Luís Neves não tem autoridade para continuar no cargo, uma vez que “está ligado a vários casos”, apelidando a situação como “inaceitável”.
“Espero que o primeiro-ministro compreenda que este ministro da Administração Interna não tem nenhumas condições de continuar”, frisou.
Falando aos jornalistas esta sexta-feira, André Ventura salientou, contudo, que “não quer crises políticas”, e espera que “não venha a haver moção de censura”, apelando a Luís Montenegro para que resolva o “total lamaçal” causado pela presença de Luís Neves no Governo.
