Trump continues to want to rename the world and admits calling the Atlantic or Pacific "America Ocean"

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, again expressed his intention to rename geographic elements, publicly admitting to call the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean "America Ocean". The declaration was made this Thursday in the Oval Office, during an official event.

The occasion served for Trump to sign an executive order that changes, in American federal records, the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America". This measure is part of a series of initiatives by the American president to rename geographic elements, replacing existing names with denominations that reference the United States.

Trump has demonstrated interest in changing names of bodies of water and other geographic features, in an approach that aims, according to his administration, to reinforce American identity through toponymy. The signing of the executive order represents a concrete step in the realization of this vision.

The declaration about the possible renaming of the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans to "America Ocean" generated an immediate reaction, being seen as an extension of the renaming policy that the Trump administration has been implementing since the beginning of its term.
