<PSD-Madeira deputy accuses JPP of "political exploitation" of the Venezuela tragedy>

SAPO Notícias28 August 2026 at 15:34

<The PSD-Madeira deputy accused JPP (Together For The People) of making "political exploitation" of the humanitarian tragedy in Venezuela. The accusation arises in the context of a 150 thousand euro aid approved to support the Madeiran emigrants affected by the crisis in the South American country.

The social-democrat rejected that the financial support resulted from any denunciation or initiative by the JPP party. According to the deputy, the support process was already underway, with needs and beneficiary institutions previously identified.

This exchange of accusations between the two parties arises at a time when the situation in Venezuela continues to cause serious difficulties to the Portuguese community in that country, particularly in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.>
