"Expel the invaders": Ceuta residents tear down tents and light bonfires against migrants

CNN Portugal28 August 2026 at 15:33

The residents of Ceuta destroyed an improvised migrant camp on a beach, at a time when several people who had crossed the border from Morocco were still remaining on that Spanish territory. The locals tore down the tents, threw the migrants' belongings into the sea and lit a bonfire while waving Spanish flags, under the attentive gaze of the migrants. Earlier, the demonstrators had blocked a road near the beach, chanting slogans such as "expel the invaders".
