Nepal police issued a flood alert this Friday (28) after being informed that a lake formed by a glacier collapse broke in Tibet, China. The alert is maximum between Nepal and Tibet, which face risk of a second flood in the mountainous region, already hit by a mud avalanche on Wednesday (26).

Chinese rescue teams arrived to suspend search and evacuation operations of residents and tourists in the area devastated by the landslides. The water began to overflow and flow toward Gyirong, located on the border between the two countries.

In Gyirong, 700 firefighters are mobilized, supported by drones and search poles. Aerial images show a vast expanse of dark water at high altitude, retained between the mud, rocks and Himalayan mountain walls.

The water volume continues to rise, since the rains have not stopped yet. The tragedy caused, until now, an unspecified number of victims, as indicated by the interruption of the original text.
