Notícias de Setúbal28 August 2026 at 11:56

World Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Day is marked annually on September 7 since 2013. The Setúbal Municipal Council joined this date by lighting the Town Hall in red. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a rare genetic disease that mainly affects skeletal and cardiac muscles, causing their progressive degeneration and weakness. This disease affects one in every 3500 male children, imposing great dependence on others. One of the main goals of this world day is to draw attention to the existence of this incurable disease and to the importance of early diagnosis.
