Quality apple harvest in Carrazeda de Ansiães but rain may cause damage

The apple harvest in Carrazeda de Ansiães, district of Bragança, is underway 10 days early due to heat, with fruit of excellent quality, good size and good coloration. This year's production is expected to be between 20 and 25 thousand tons, higher than last year's 15 to 18 thousand. However, forecasted rain may cause fruit drop and cracking, and hail could cause significant damage. Farmers face economic challenges, with prices between 40 and 45 cents per kilogram last year, considered too low given the increase in fuel and labor costs, threatening farm sustainability.

The commitment of Brazilian families' income to debt payments reached a new record of 28.9% in June, according to data from the Central Bank, rising compared to 28.5% in May. The indicator, which measures the percentage of household budget allocated to debt installments, continues its upward trend despite the Desenrola 2.0 program launched by the federal government to renegotiate debts with lower interest rates. Excluding mortgage financing, the commitment stood at 26.6%. Meanwhile, overall indebtedness—which measures total debt relative to income—slightly declined from 49.9% to 49.8%, remaining at elevated levels.
