Time for the last weekend of August: temperatures rise and these 2 cities exceed 30 °C again

Meteored Portugal28 August 2026 at 11:27

Continental Portugal will register a rise in temperature values during the last weekend of August. On Friday, the day dawned grey in most of the North and Centre regions, with the northwest being able to count on weak and persistent rain. The maximum temperatures forecast for today vary between 19°C in Guarda and 27°C in Beja, with Mora, in the district of Évora, possibly reaching 30°C.

For Saturday, a generalized dissipation of cloud cover is expected, although some cloud cover persists in the northwest of the country. Weak rain is forecast in that region between 5pm and 9pm. However, for the rest of the territory, the day should be dry and sunny.

Between Saturday and Sunday, maximum temperatures rise again in the interior and south of the country. At least two cities exceed 30°C again during this weekend.

Dolly storm forms in the Atlantic. Does the name have to do with Dolly Parton's death?

Tropical storm Dolly formed in the Atlantic Ocean and is heading towards the Leeward Islands, in the northeast Caribbean, this weekend. The storm's name has no relation to the death of singer Dolly Parton, which occurred last Tuesday at age 80 – it's a big coincidence. Storm systems are named according to World Meteorological Organization procedures, with lists reused every six years, following alphabetical order and alternating between male and female names. The Atlantic hurricane season began in June with Arthur and continued in July with Bertha and Cristobal.
