PPM criticizes "passing the buck" over the Christ the King of Garajau

PPM Madeira criticized what it considers a "passing the buck" game between the Santa Cruz Town Hall and the Regional Government regarding responsibility for the maintenance and conservation of the Christ the King of Garajau monument. In a statement, the PPM Madeira coordinator, Paulo Brito, regrets that the sculpture is closed to visitors due to its state of degradation and risk of deterioration, despite being one of the tourist points of interest in that area. The party recalls that Christ the King of Garajau is an iconic monument of the region, frequented by tourists and locals, and that its closure represents both a cultural and economic loss for the island of Madeira. PPM MADEIRA calls on the responsible entities to assume their responsibilities and take urgent measures to resolve the situation.
