Rodri Hernández made his debut for Barcelona just nine days after his signing, which was the club's main move of the season. The midfielder came on in the second half of the match against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday and was greeted with a strong ovation from the fans at the packed Camp Nou.
Coach Hansi Flick, who had already hinted at his intention to use the new signing, brought on Rodri in place of young Marc Bernal at the 17th minute of the second half. The moment was met with a big ovation from the Catalan supporters.
After his first minutes in the new shirt, the Spaniard spoke about his choice to play for Barcelona. According to him, it had been a long summer and he needed to adapt quickly. Rodri said he was happy to be where he wanted to be and that now it was time to work to get into rhythm and get used to the team.
