Two belugas and four dolphins rescued from Canada's Marineland park, closed for more than a year, arrived this morning at the Oceanogràfic in Valencia, Spain. The animals were the subject of a complex international transfer to ensure their care and avoid their euthanasia.

The animals were going to be slaughtered at the Canadian aquarium, but were rescued in time to be transferred to adequate facilities. Marineland park, located in Niagara Falls, closed its doors more than a year ago, leaving the animals without proper care.

The Oceanogràfic in Valencia, the largest aquarium in Europe, received the animals and will be responsible for their rehabilitation and well-being. The transfer involved complex international logistics to ensure the animals arrived safely at their new home.

This rescue represents a joint effort by animal protection organizations that worked to prevent the death of the marine animals. The arrival of the mammals at the Spanish aquarium marks the beginning of a new life for these animals, who will now have access to adequate care at the Valencia facilities.
