King Harald V of Norway has died. The monarch passed away at the age of 87, having reigned as king of Norway for more than three decades, becoming the longest-reigning monarch in Europe at the time of his death.
Harald V suffered from hemolytic anemia, a blood disease that causes the abnormally rapid destruction of the body's red blood cells. This medical condition was one of the factors that affected his health in his final years.
The king's death represents a significant loss for the Norwegian royal family and for the Nordic country, marking the end of a reign that lasted more than 30 years. As Europe's longest-reigning monarch, Harald V was a figure of great historical and symbolic importance on the continent.
