Norway's King Harald V, the longest-reigning European monarch, has died at the age of 89. The monarch was hospitalized in Oslo when he passed away.
Harald V had been Norway's head of state for over three decades, ascending to the throne in 1993. He was the longest-reigning monarch in Europe.
His death occurs at a time marked by controversy. The Epstein files, which contain information about Crown Prince Frederik's contacts with Jeffrey Epstein, are mentioned as one of the scandals clouding succession to the Norwegian throne.
