School milk program

Jornal Económico28 August 2026 at 07:45

The school milk program in Portugal covers not only regular milk, but also lactose-free milk and plant-based drinks, a possibility still unknown to the majority of families. Many parents and guardians are not aware that these alternatives are available for their children.

For children to access lactose-free milk, a medical declaration must be presented to the school management. In the case of plant-based drinks, the request must be made in writing to the school grouping management, and can be requested at any time during the school year.

DECO advocates that this information should be clearly communicated to all families and that the request process should be simplified, in order to ensure that children access healthy food options suited to their needs, without bureaucratic barriers.

No caso de leite sem lactose: apresentação de declaração médica à direção da escola;
