More than 300 people affected by the earthquakes of August 21 in Venezuela were assisted by the Portuguese consulate in La Guaira, according to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The consular support was provided to Portuguese victims who were in the region affected by the tremors.

The double earthquake of August 21 caused serious damage to infrastructure, injuries and fatalities in seven states of Venezuela. The affected states were Caracas, Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, Lara, Yaracuy and La Guaira.

La Guaira was the state most affected by the earthquakes, registering the highest number of damages and consequences for the local population. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs monitored the situation and provided assistance to Portuguese citizens in the region through the consulate.
