The authorities of Nepal raised this Friday to nearly 470 the number of dead from the floods that occurred on Wednesday in the north of the country. The floods were caused by the sharp rise in the level of the Bhotekoshi river.

The affected area was the district of Rasuwa, a mountainous region located near the border with Tibet, in China. The tragedy caused hundreds of deaths in the past hours.

Rescue operations are ongoing, while local authorities try to locate possible survivors among the rubble. The number of dead may still increase as emergency teams advance in the searches.
