In the first half of 2026, scams involving "fake accidents" caused accumulated damages of 72,540 euros to victims, a value that approaches the total recorded throughout the entire year of 2025, which was 77,480 euros.
This information was revealed today by the Republican National Guard, which warned about the significant increase in this type of scam in the first half of the year.
The data shows that in just six months, the damages almost matched those of a full year, indicating a growing trend in this type of crime.
GNR shared these numbers as a way to alert the population to this fraudulent scheme, which continues to affect a considerable number of victims.
