Environmentalist warns about waste on the banks of the Caniçada dam

An environmentalist raised awareness about the presence of various waste materials on the banks of the Caniçada dam, in Parada de Bouro, Vieira do Minho. Among the litter found were plastic bottles, plastic bags, styrofoam and even a football, highlighting the problem of environmental pollution in the area.
The association Friends of Cáster reported a pollution discharge in the Cáster river, with the Municipality of Ovar, the GNR and the APA going to the site to investigate. However, the heavy rains and high river flows prevented definitive conclusions about the origin of the polluting discharge.
