BRB faces drop in client numbers amid Banco Master crisis
cbn27 August 2026 at 15:59
BRB faces a significant reduction in its client base amid the crisis involving Banco Master. Since the termination of business with Master in the third quarter of 2024, the bank has lost approximately 800,000 clients, representing a drop of about 8%, going from 9.8 million to 9 million individuals and legal entities. This client loss, described as a "bleeding," may help reduce pressure on the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) in case of liquidation, since fewer clients mean lower exposure. However, the loss of resources also harms the bank's ability to meet immediate obligations. Economist César Bergo commented on the situation.
