Caxias reinforces security with Municipal Force and advanced technology

Duque de Caxias strengthens its public security with the creation of the Municipal Force, an armed division of the Municipal Guard for preventive and ostensive patrol. The city government hired 518 new guards through a public competition, who completed training for the use of weapons following Federal Police criteria in July. Since the first week of August, 189 guards with firearm permits are on the streets, while another 198 are awaiting permit processing. The new agents join 179 veteran guards, also in training. The modernization includes monitoring with smart technology and integrated actions with federal, state, and other municipal police forces.
Prime Minister Luís Montenegro defended the need to reach a "national understanding" about the future of Social Security before the next legislative elections, warning that solutions and funding sources will need to be negotiated among political parties to guarantee the system's sustainability. Montenegro acknowledged that the topic requires cross-party consensus and that the country needs structural responses to the demographic and financial challenges that threaten Social Security's viability.
