A school principal in the United States, Rob Burnside, lost his job after 31 years of career for helping a homeless student named Landerius Hayes, known as DeDe. Burnside, who ran Lakota East High School in the Cincinnati suburbs in Ohio, was known for creating ways to connect with students, including wearing flashy pants on Fridays to start conversations. When Hayes entered 11th grade and was struggling due to being homeless, Burnside intervened to support him, which ended up resulting in his dismissal. Despite losing his job, Burnside says he does not regret it and would do the same again.
