Bank valuations hit record high with Alentejo leading increases in the country

The median value of bank assessments for housing reached a new historical high in July, standing at 2,240 euros per square meter. According to INE, the data reveals strong dynamism in the Alentejo, which recorded the highest monthly increase in the country (1.3%). Although it maintains absolute values below the national average, with 1,778 €/m² for apartments and 1,300 €/m² for houses, the Alentejo stood out with an expressive acceleration, with the value of apartments in the region surging 25.3% compared to July of the previous year.

Three Algarve municipalities — Olhão, Portimão, and Vila Real de Santo António — are among the 19 municipalities covered by nine tenders opened by the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU) to allocate 77 housing units under affordable rental schemes, as part of the Rental Support Program. Applications, open to individuals and households, run until September 17 and include housing types from studio (T0) to six-bedroom (T6). Interested parties must first obtain the Application Registration Certificate on the Rental Support Program platform and then submit their application through the IHRU Arrenda Platform, available on the Housing Portal.
The Municipal Council of Castelo Branco is going to rehabilitate the former building of Pensão Residencial Arraiana, located on Avenida 1.º de Maio, to transform it into a student residence. The project aims to address the need for housing for students in the city, simultaneously contributing to the enhancement of the built heritage and to the revitalization of the urban area where the property is located.
