What UFRJ students involved in confusion over alleged Nazi propaganda say

The case involves a brawl that resulted in violence on Tuesday at the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences (IFCS) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The situation is described in completely opposite versions by the two main parties involved.

On one side, law student Deivid Lima claims he was the victim of assaults and racist insults. According to his version, he was trying to take a student to the police station who was wearing a shirt with alleged Nazi propaganda.

On the other side, history student Diego Costa Araújo denies the accusations. He maintains he was wearing a shirt from an openly anti-Nazi punk band and claims he suffered an attempted homicide after being beaten by dozens of people.

The case is the subject of a police investigation and a disciplinary committee installed by UFRJ's administration to investigate the incident.

WOMAN RESCUED FROM FOUR-METER-DEEP WELL IN ATEI

A woman was successfully rescued from a well approximately four meters deep in the locality of Bormela, parish of Atei, in the municipality of Mondim de Basto. The alert was issued yesterday at 10:40 a.m., after the victim had fallen into the well. The rescue operation mobilized eight operatives and three vehicles, including a Rope Rescue and Access Unit and a Pre-Hospital Emergency Team, with support from the SIV of Fafe and the GNR of Mondim de Basto. After being safely removed from the well and receiving pre-hospital assistance at the scene, the woman was transported to Guimarães Hospital for observation and treatment.
